GAME DAY PROCEDURES

Game Day Procedures
A guide for Coaches and Referees
(Revised Spring 2006)

Playing Format:

U9&10 6 v 6 (Keeper & 5 Players) Min. of 5 to begin or continue match
U11&12 8 v 8 (Keeper & 7 Players) Min. of 7 to begin or continue match
U13&Older 11v11 (Keeper & 10 Players) Min. of 7 to begin or continue match

Teams should arrive 15-30 minutes before game time.
Game not played or completed:
• No show - Referee record on Game Report.
• Unable to field the min. number -Referee record on Game Report
• Game called due to weather - Referee record on Game Report the time and half.

Team Benches & Coaching from the sidelines:
• Teams on opposite sidelines. Home team has first choice.
• Parents and fans on the same sideline as their team.
• Coaching must occur between the 18 yard lines.

Game Reports:
• Give 2 completed Game Reports to Ref before the game.
• Home team pays the referees before the game.
• Home team gives the referee the mailing envelope.

COMPLETED GAME REPORTS MUST INCLUDE:
• Team Name * Game Date * Coaches Names
• Age group * Club Code * Their phone numbers
• Division * Game Number * Their Risk Management #
• Denote if player/coach is present, absent or sitting out by check mark!

Handshakes:
• Done before the game.
After the Game:
• Refs print name & ID#
• Record the score on all GR
• Record the cards issued on all GR
• Coach checks the GR for accuracy, then signs all 4.
• Return 1 copy of each team’s singed GR to each coach.

Protests:
• Protest box must be checked before the GR is signed by the coaches.
• Protesting coach must contact their GLSL Rep immediately.
• Club must mail protest form within 72 hours of game.

Mailing the Game Report:
• Winning team maisl 1 copy of each completed GR within 24 hrs of the game.
• Tie game – each coach mails 1 original copy of their GR within 24 hrs of the game.
• Home team provides the envelope. Tie game, each team supplies their own.

Referee fees:
• Paid before the game by home team.
Team Benches and Home Team Responsibilities:
• Teams on opposite sides of the fields.
• Fan and spectators on the same side as their team.
• Home teams furnish the game ball and should change uniform if there is a color conflict.

3 Man Diagonal System must be used for all GLSL games with only one whistle on the field.
• At least one (1) USSF certified ref for center is required and two (2) AR’s or club linesmen.
• Only (1) referee shows for game, must use club linesmen for out of touch balls only.
• If (2) referees show, one must be center, the other will AR with a club linesman.
• If no referees show, the game can be played if both coaches agree on officials for the game and the 3 man diagonal system is used. Otherwise, the game must be rescheduled.

Relatives of a player or team official cannot referee the game without consent of both teams.
Pass Cards:
• Required for all U15 & Older and Select teams.
• Must contain player’s picture and signature, the club’s stamp or signature and must be laminated.
• Player’s without a pass card cannot play.
• Teams without pass cards will not play and the game is a forfeit.

Before Game Procedures for Referees:
• Obtain referee fees from the home team.
• Obtain two (2) completed Game Reports from each coach. Player and coach attendance is to be completed by the coach of each team. If incomplete, return them to the coach. Retain all Game Reports until the end of the game.
• Determine if pass cards need to be checked. Check the appropriate box on the Game Report.
• Check teams in by verifying player pass cards or player numbers to the roster.
• Check players for safety requirements and give any modifications of FIFA rules.
• Handshakes take place before the game.

If game times need to be adjusted, games must consist of two (2) equal halves.
After Game Procedure for Referees:
• Record the score and print names and ID numbers of all officials on all four (4) Game Reports.
• Record all cards given on all four (4) Game Reports.
• Red Cards must be recorded on the back of the offending team’s Game Reports. Include the name of the coach or player and the player’s number and the reason the card was given. If it was for fighting, say so.
• Obtain coaches signatures and given each team one (1) copy of each Game Report.

Small Sided Modifications:

**For all divisions, if a goalkeeper punts or drop-kicks the ball in the air from his/her penalty area to the opponents penalty area, an indirect free kick is given to the opposing team at the center spot of the halfway line.
