DSC Select/Premier Program
1. DSC Select / Premier program will be called Dearborn Drive. Uniform colors are Red and Black. Color code for top team down is black, red, white.
2. Coaches are selected by Director of Coaching and assigned to teams. If / when multiple teams at any age level are expected, the Director of Coaching will name the #1 coach, #2 coach, etc. as well as leagues / divisions teams will play.
3. DSC will field U8 thru U12 girls and boys Select Teams and U13 thru U17 girls and boys select and premier teams when the player numbers and experienced available coaches permit.
4. Coaches will submit to Director of Coaching a brief bio and / or soccer resume on themselves including coaching licenses, goals, beliefs, expectations, development theme for players and team / philosophies in coaching. This should also include an idea of how many / which tournaments the coach plans to take the team to over the course of the year. Existing DSC coaches will be given 1st consideration for open coaching positions.
5. Select Coach Minimum Requirements:
"E" License
(3) Years of Coaching Experience
Experience as a player at higher levels of competition
Interview and/or observation of candidate in a coaching role by the DSC Director of Coaching
6. Premier Coach Minimum Requirements:
(Same requirements as Select plus "D" License)
7. Coaching director approves age appropriate drills or games submitted by head coaches that will be used to evaluate @ team selections. This evaluation will include lots of touches on the ball to get an accurate assessment of players skills.
8. Team selections are completed by age with a panel of at least three coaches. One who is the team head coach. Two other evaluators who have no ties to team.
9. It is the intent of the DSC to keep players at their age appropriate playing levels. Individual circumstances may be considered. It is most important to follow these guidelines U15 thru U17 so teams are not shorthanded in the fall or spring, depending on respective high school seasons. Director of coaching must approve all exceptions.
10. If there are going to be multiple teams in same age group. It is should be discussed how many players will be selected for each team roster. Recommendations are first team has smaller roster. This is done to encourage players on second team to improve and reach the first team for the next season or year. (Depends on age group) Examples: U9/10 teams select nine players leaving two roster spots. U11/12 teams select twelve players leaving two roster spots. If there is only going to be one team it is at the coaches discretion for roster size. As long as minimum numbers are satisfied.
11. Selection panel then decides which players should be first team as the tryout progresses. You should get a commitment from seventy percent of your first team players the first day (signed contract and digital picture). By doing this it gives the selection panel less players to look at for the rest of first day and second day. Committed players are still required to be at second day of tryouts. Then second day of tryouts you finish up first team selection. Making notes to see if there are any new players second day and give them a look. Then proceed with second team if needed following same process.
12. As soon as team(s) is selected have a quick meeting with parents. Covering who can help manage team, treasurer, tournament coordinator, fundraising coordinator, social coordinator, and uniform coordinator for team. Answer any questions they may have but keep meeting short. (Important note do not discuss player selection)
13. Separate team bank account will be used for team funds including payment of fees. Team bank account statements will be available to DSC director of coaching for review upon request.
14. Select coaches with "E" license will receive a trainer fee of $50.00 per player/per season. Select coaches with "D" license will receive a trainer fee of $100.00 per player/per season.
